What is Glucomannan?




The super fiber


Glucomannan comes from the Konjac plant, specifically from the root of the plant. It is native to warm, tropical Eastern Asia, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and China south to Indonesia. For thousands of years the Konjac plant has been known for its medicinal purposes. The edible part of the Konjac plant is the root or the corm, from which the Glucomannan powder is made from. The Konjac is also known as Konjaku Konnyaku potato, devils tongue, voodoo lily, snake palm or elephant yam. Konjac is very low in calories but high in fiber. Half a teaspoon (2 grams) has about 5 CAL and 2.5 grams of fiber. This is 10% of your daily fiber needs.
